    Description

For contemporary carver Todd Talashoma has always been my favorite. There are so many talented Hopi Carvers but his appeal to me for their style and detail in carving. This carving is made from the cottonwood root and the stains/ paints are expertly applied
This Left Handed Warrior Katsina stands firmly with his bow in one hand and clenched fist in the other. The left side of his body is striped while the right side is not.Though standing with determination, the legs and elbows are all bent to indicate motion. The warrior wears a buckskin deer hide over his shoulder showing the holes from where it was pegged to the ground or frame when it was tanned and scraped. The ketoh on his wrist is slightly incised and painted a turquoise color. The fringe on his moccasins are carved as well and the woven texture on his kilt is also carved. The eagle feathers atop his mask and his hair show deep texture as well.
The carving stands almost nine inches tall and the base is five inches wide.
This carving is signed on the bottom and is dated 4, 1987.
