ED raids MUDA office linked to money laundering case against Siddaramaiah

MUDA scam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, on Friday, raided the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Mysuru Taluk Office, inspecting documents related to the alleged MUDA scam. The names of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife BM Parvathi have figured in the documents.
Two teams of ED officials, consisting of over 10 personnel each, raided the MUDA office on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road and the Taluk Office at Nazarbad around 11 am, reported Deccan Herald.
The Enforcement Directorate officials were also accompanied by paramilitary personnel. ED officials were inspecting both MUDA and Revenue department documents, which will go on for at least two days, said the MUDA officials. The public have also been barred from entering both the offices.
In September, the ED had registered a money laundering case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and his wife in connection with the MUDA case. It revolves around allegations that compensatory sites were allotted to Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, in an upscale area of Mysuru, that had a higher property value as compared to the land that had been acquired by MUDA.
According to a report by TNIE, a woman named Snehamayi Krishna’s complaint against senior officials had triggered the Enforcement Directorate’s involvement. Snehamayi Krishna had also accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and the senior officials of misusing their authority.
While the raid did not extend any premises belonging to Siddaramaiah or his family, the Chief Minister and others had earlier been named in an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), filed by the ED, stated the TNIE report.
MUDA had allotted plots to Parvathi under a 50:50 ratio scheme in lieu of 3.16 acres of her land, where it developed a residential layout. Activists, however, argue that the land allotted to his wife as compensation had a higher property value as compared to the location of her land that was acquired by MUDA.
